Thoughts on British ICT, energy & environment, cloud computing and security from Memset's MD
Since moving house I’ve also acquired a nice big shed alone one side. My grandfather taught me woodwork but it is one of those skills I’ve let slip. The shed clearly needed a work bench, so I built one!
I’m pretty pleased with it overall – it is extremely strong. I reckon it could support a motorbike if necessary (quarter of a tonne). I’ve managed that without chunky bits of wood though. The picture below shows the cross-bracing I used underneath for lateral stability and if you look you can see how I supported the middle two latteral (front-back) beams that support the planks against the front and back vertical planks.
Since I had such a nice new bench I thought I should organise my tools properly too! Below shows the finished article.
It’s always great to find someone in this modern day and age rediscovering woodwork skills. Congratulations on the bench. I bet it was a really satisfying project to complete.
